For anyone else interested, here's an earlier posting (7th June) by Tony Dodd on Prolog-2 availability: In article jgrist@vnet.ibm.com "Jason Grist" writes: > A friend of mine (who does not have an internet account) obtained a copy > of the Public Domain version of PROLOG-2 about six months ago. The ownership of Prolog-2 has been transferred to a company called Chemical Design Ltd but they are not marketing it. The Dutch/German company ESI BV is still trading and has an agreement allowing it to sell Prolog-2; the address is: Expert Systems International BV PO Box 148 3700 AC Zeist The Netherlands Telephone: +31 3404 22911 Fax: +31 3404 32888 I don't believe that 45 pounds will buy your friend the full version of the software, however. My recollection is that the version you get has some extra features but lacks quite a lot, and doesn't have the 80386 extended mode or Windows features. I still support Prolog-2 users with problems, but potential users should be aware that at least at the moment there are no funds to pay for new features and enhancements. If you are going to spend a lot of money on a Prolog system I would suggest looking seriously at a system from a vendor that still has an active development team, such as Quintus or LPA. -- Tony Dodd 53 Radley Road Abingdon Oxon OX14 3PN UK Tel: +44 235 525960 Fax: +44 235 553228 Net: tony@dodd.demon.co.uk Compuserve: 100023,2334 -- < Michael A.
